2. Classroom-based Educational Activities

The purpose of this component is to deliver appropriate curriculum to school children about the value of conservation, the benefit of sustainable utilization of natural resources and the importance of healthy, functional ecosystems for human wellness such that awareness is increased and other activities are strengthened.

Film shows created and raised awareness on environmental conservation to pupils, teachers and school committees at large.

In 2007, the program in collaboration with OSU Children Library Fund of Canada, trained 7 teachers and 14 pupils all from seven schools of Maswa Makao area in the establishment and management of school and community libraries. Coupled with the training, each school was given a number of books, games and gears for establishing and/or modernizing school libraries. Pictures and stories were collected from the villages in the effort to publish two books on anti-poaching and environmental conservation. The books (Peter and Maria’s wish) have been published and are available to order direct from the Robin Hurt Wildlife Foundation. They will be distributed to schools and villages within the concession areas.
