The Future - One cannot simply be of the opinion that we have reached a place with our Foundation, where we are happy and stable. We cannot simply say ‘why do more, we have done enough already.
Africa is forever changing and adjusting to the modern world, and the only way for wildlife to survive, is for foundations such as ours to initiate the change within local communities at the grass roots level, through expansion of our activities.
Our near term goals are as follows :
- To out fit and provide for anti poaching teams to be in each area we operate on a full time basis. Some of the larger areas require more than one team.
- To up grade and train our anti poaching teams to increase performance.
- To consider renewing a reward program based on performance for field anti poaching units.
- To boost our village level, and local government level community based conservation based work, with the objective of educating and winning over the locals to really want to look after the wildlife and wilderness.
- To be able to rent on a need be basis aircraft to assist with anti poaching operations, and overall area survey for the purposes of looking after and improving the well being of the areas.
Our long term goals are as follows :
- To have a manager based in each area, as a warden would do in a National Park, to oversee and control operations and area cash flow and book keeping, in addition to taking on the vital roles of being a liaison between us, the local communities and the local and regional governments.
- To improve accessibility into areas to help anti poaching coverage, efficiency and performance.
- To investigate and work with other NGO's both local and Overseas based, (who may also have separate funding for various project areas), to assist establish, educate and train local communities in areas such as better livestock and crop husbandry, agro forestry, fisheries, and other possible village based industries where they may be able to produce some thing from which they can make an improved earning, and at the same time reducing the impacts on the wilderness.
- To get aerial surveillance established as full time division of the RHWF.
These all entail costs and investments and your contribution, be it financial or a physical donation, will not only safeguard the future of our wildlife and environment but will also substantially contribute to the wellbeing and prosperity of Africa’s indigenous people
